Job Description


' Set-up jobs on the machine, including; loading and securely fixturing the work-pieces onto the work table; adjust programs using zero and reference points, tool registers, offsets, and compensation.

' Calculate speeds and feeds to optimize the machining process.

' Load/unload tools and use a pre-setter to set tooling gage lengths.

' Understand and made adjustments to hold geometric dimensions and tolerances.

' Experience with machining large parts.

' Read blueprints to program and run work-pieces.

' Ability to edit CNC programs as required ensuring parts are made to print requirements.

' Use math, geometry and trigonometry to complete job responsibilities.


' Prior experience as a CNC Horizontal Boring Mill is desired in this role. Toshiba experience a plus.

' Ability to review part prints and assure machining accuracy.

' Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

' Works with CNC programmer to optimize and standardize CNC programs.

' Ability to trouble shoot CNC programs for issues and errors.

' Creative problem solver able to work in multi-disciplinary

Job Requirements

  • Use and maintain measuring equipment pertaining to department
  • Doing inspection to assure conformance to blueprints and quality plans
  • Complying With Procedures, Rules
  • Monitor and control feed rate and speed./li
  • Operate machine by placing stock on rest, closing tail stock and feeding piece to sutter head hand by hand lever until stop guide terminate machining
  • Perform any tasks as requested by department leadperson and/or supervisor
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Comply with all applicable occupational Environmental, Health, and Safety standards, as well as Crown's safety rules and regulations for each task
  • Set up and operate computercontrolled machines or robots to perform one or more machine functions on metal or plastic work pieces
  • Know how to convert machine programs for various machines
  • Program and run a variety of CNC-controlled machines, including mills and lathes
  • Develop, maintain, and portray a high degree of professionalism and technical competence both within and outside the organization, encouraging excellence through example
  • Checking stock to determine amount
  • Set up lathe by installing and adjusting tools, collets
  • Preparing machine for production, regulating machine, producing parts, maintaining specifications, resolving production problems, ensuring correct operation of equipment
