*** A company in Germantown is looking for a Lead Mechanical Assembler ***
LEAD PERSON KNOWLEDGE:
- Requires high school education and 3 to 5 years related work experience, mechanical aptitude and a
basic understanding of assembly techniques, machines and tools, including their design, use, repair and
maintenance
- Basic understanding of spot, seam and MIG welding and controls, and robotic and PLC
control concepts. Continuing technical education a plus, but not required.
- WHEN HIRED ON - MUST BE ABLE TO TRAVEL IN THE U.S. & CANADA TO SET UP MACHINES - During periods of peak activity, travel can average up to 40%, with normal average approximating 10%
LEAD PERSON SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to effectively coach, train, mentor and informally counsel, as well as provide feedback to
mechanical assemblers while maintaining an environment of collaboration, compromise and teamwork.
- This requires a high level of tact, communication, persuasive skills, and conflict resolution capabilities, as
well as flexibility and adaptability
- These skills are in addition to the skills required of a Mechanical Assembler, namely critical thinking and the use of logic to identify problems, alternative solutions, conclusions and approach to problems
- Good math and computer skills including Microsoft Office products, good verbal and communicative skills, ability to interact with others.
- Also must be able to operate fork lift trucks and overhead cranes,
- Must have solid mechanical aptitude and knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control techniques & a fair Level of understanding of electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic principles
- Should also be conversant with wiring practices and robotic and PLC control concepts
LEAD DUTIES:
- Position requires significant daily, face-to-face contact with his supervisor, with the Production Leader -
Electrical, peers in machining & welding, purchasing, & other shop floor functions - including the
Automation Technician Group..... in order to plan work assignments and schedule activity, and with
mechanical assemblers in implementation of the daily schedule
- May also periodically require interface with engineering and co-workers in problem solving situations, and with customers during run-off, installation or repair/rebuilding machines at customers" locations.
TRAVEL ONCE HIRED:
- WHEN HIRED ON - THEY COULD TRAVEL U.S. & CANADA TO SET UP MACHINES - During periods of peak activity, travel can average up to 40%, with normal average approximating 10%
