JOB SUMMARY:
Do precision machining with manual and CNC machine tools, including but not limited to Lathe, Mill,
Grinders, inspection equipment, and work with varied materials.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Reads and interprets blueprints or works from verbal or written instructions or from the part to be copied
or fitted.
2. Plans the setup and operation of all types of machine shop tools, considering types of material, tolerances,
types of cutting tools, coolants, lubricants, and machine tool feeds and speeds.
3. Starts up and shuts down equipment in line with company safety procedures for equipment under power
and OSHA requirements. Frequently works with other employees.
4. Requires a very high degree of precision and control in work where damage could
be high and where muscular control and delicate touch are required.
5. High degree of attention and care required, to prevent injury to self and others whenoperating machine
tools.
6. Determines specifications for inspection of work, using precision measuring and gaging tools, performing
required inspection before, during, and after machining.
7. Performs hand operations involved in producing precision machined components. Uses hand tools of the
trade.
8. Stand on feet for 8 hours per day.
9. Capable of lifting 35 pounds.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. May assist other machinists and machine operators.
2. May work with product designers providing input to manufacturing capability on newly formed products.
SPECIFICATIONS:
1. MUST be able to work 2nd Shift (4pm-2am) Monday thru Thursday – there will be no immediate
opportunity to move to 1 st Shift.
2. Completion of formal apprenticeship program or 3+ years on-the-job experience.
3. Reliable transportation and good attendance a MUST (we require 40 hours per week – minimum – no
exceptions)
