Position Overview

Well-established commercial insurance brokerage is seeking a qualified person to join a winning team within our personal lines department. Applicant must be motivated to sell personal lines insurance through marketing of our extensive internal commercial client book as well as external prospecting. Applicant must exhibit excellent communication skills and demonstrate an ambitious tenacity to make sales. To be considered, applicant must also demonstrate knowledge of personal lines insurance including Auto, Homeowners, Renters, Umbrella, Boat, Motorcycle, RV, ATV and life.


Job Requirements

Essential Functions

 Learn the application process for various personal lines insurance carriers.  Sell various types of personal insurance policies to new and existing clients.  Establish customer relationships and follow up with customers as needed to ensure customer satisfaction and develop client referrals.  Use a customer-focused, needs-based review process to educate customers about insurance options and assist in making informed decisions regarding coverage.  Generate sales leads by seeking out new customers and obtaining referrals from existing clients.  Make sales calls to new and existing clients using a list of compiled sales leads.  Prepare overall sales strategy & weekly action plans including sales goals.  Plan direct marketing activities with local businesses and communities.  Calculate premiums and assist customers in establishing a payment method.  Work with various underwriters to negotiate the best price for our customers and bind coverage.  Input client and policy information into customer database and agency software.


Non-Essential Functions

 Provide customer service to new and existing clients.  Clerical duties such as managing records, reports and files.  Work with personal lines team to develop strategies and generate fresh ideas.


Qualifications and Skills

 Current Property & Casualty Insurance License  Current Life Insurance License a Plus  Knowledge of personal lines insurance including Auto, Homeowners, Renters, Umbrella, Boat, Motorcycle, RV, ATV and Life  Strong interpersonal skills  Strong communication skills - written, verbal and listening  Strong arithmetic skills  Self-motivated  Detail oriented  Pride in getting work done accurately and timely  Strong work ethic with a total commitment to success each and every day.


Job Specifications:

 Ability to remain in a stationary position in O’Fallon office for up to 8 hours per day.  Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required to meet with clients periodically.
