Liberty MO company is looking for an experienced Service Writer. Job duties for a service writer revolve around the needs of the customer. They develop relationships with customers through successful management of product or service delivery. Their duties can include tracking repairs and their causes, scheduling technicians and processing warranties. 

The Service Writer provides a connection between a customer and a business. Taking the customer's needs into consideration, a service writer facilitates the transaction between the customer and the company. A variety of industrial companies utilize service writers, with automotive companies being the most common employers. A high school education and experience in the industry is often sufficient to work in this field, but some service writers do hold college degrees in the field in which they are employed. They need excellent communications skills and knowledge of record keeping and computer programs.

This is a Direct Hires position

1st shift hours

9am-6pm Monday-Friday

Job Requirements

Service Writer Job Responsibilities:

  • greet customers and assist them with their inquiries

  • perform vehicle walk around and documentation of customer concerns to enable the Technician to properly diagnose and service the vehicle

  • Consult with customer on applicable service specials

  • Prioritize required services and are prepared to provide options upon request

  • Document declines for services and ask for follow-up on future service considerations

  • Keep customer informed on completion times, service expenses, and possible changes

  • Remain involved with delivery of vehicle to customer upon completion to assure all customer concerns can be addressed.

  • Provide concierge support for all owner inquiries, whether phone or in person, to assure the customer does not get mishandled

  • Spend quality time building a relationship with the customer.

  • Know the product well enough to answer characteristic and operational questions regarding the customer’s vehicle

Service Writer Job Requirements:

  • Previous automotive service writer experience required

  • Outgoing personality with expertise at developing relationships (i.e., a “people person')

  • Basic MS Office knowledge; computer software and internet proficiency

Must have previous Automotive Writing experience.
