Shipping Supervisor Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee General Shipping Activities: ensure every shipment arrives on time and within budget. Monitor and oversee outgoing and incoming shipping activities to verify items are shipping to the correct location and in good condition. Ensure weights are correctly posted, that correct charges are applied, and that shipments are moved from shipping points to storage areas, and also resolve issues with shipping orders.

  • Inspect Loading Operations to ensure proper use of warehouse space.

  • Manage Shipping Orders, Invoices, and other documents to manage priorities and ensure that the correct shipping methods are used. Ensure shipping records are accurately stored in the database.

  • Inventory Reconciliation: conduct regular inventory reconciliation to ensure adequate supplies to meet the company’s production goals. Report to senior management on damaged goods and any discrepancies with inventory.

  • Supervise Shipping Staff and Drivers to make sure all items are prepared, shipped, and received on time while complying with company policy. Act as a liaison between workers and management, and report on shipping activities and issues. Manage Time & Attendance, Quality of Workmanship and Productivity, documenting all progressive discipline, and reporting to Human Resources and staffing vendors

  • Participate in Lean Activities, such as Kaizen events, Value Stream Mapping, 5Y, PPAP’s and 8D
  • Maintain Warehouse Safety and Cleanliness through 5S and other Lean Manufacturing principles of organization and waste elimination

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree preferred

  • 3+ years’ experience in manufacturing and Shipping

  • Experience with 5Y

  • Experience in completing PPAP’s & 8D’s

  • Experience with IATF a plus

  • Understanding of ISO 9001, 140001 etc. implementation and compliance

  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles (Six Sigma, 5-S)

  • Proficiency using Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Excellent communicator both verbally and written

  • Detail-oriented

  • Experience operating sit down forklift preferred
