Job Description

Crown Services Healthcare is looking for a caring and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse who is interested in caring for students in a residential educational facility for blind and visually impaired students.

The main job responsibilities of school nurses include:

Developing plans for student care based on assessment, interventions, and identification of outcomes, and the evaluation of care

Providing health-related education to students and staff in both individual and group settings

Monitoring immunizations, managing communicable diseases and assessing the school environment as to prevent injury and ensure safety

Overseeing infection control measures

Overseeing medication administration, health care procedures, and the development of healthcare plans

Overseeing vision, hearing, body mass index, and mental health screening procedures
Making decisions related to the delegation of healthcare tasks as directed by state laws and professional practice guidance

Job Requirements

  • Implement school health management protocols
  • Maintain security of school health supplies
  • Work under the supervision of the chief school nurse and/or school principal
  • Provide limited medical care and services to students and school staff
  • Provide individual nursing care to medically fragile children at school
  • Inspecting the assigned school for health/medical hazards
  • Engage in research and evaluation of school health services to act as a change agent for school health programs and school nursing practices
  • Maintain school health records, including ensuring compliance with state health mandates for school attendance
  • Designing and providing a school health program
  • Manage one time screenings for school health
  • Assess the health needs of the school community
  • Maintain medical and health services programs for the school
  • Provide health counseling services to students, parents, and school personnel
  • Designing and providing a school health program
