Kansas City, Kansas manufacturer is looking for an experienced, qualified Welding Supervisor. Position will require previous experience.

Job Duties will include, but not be limited to:

Setting goals for performance and deadlines in ways that comply with company's plans and vision.

• Organizing workflow and ensuring that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks.

• Monitoring employee productivity and providing constructive feedback and training.

• Performs skilled supervisory work in directing the work of subordinate personnel involved in the following: welding; maintenance and repair, metal machining.

• This individual is responsible for assigning tasks among subordinates and personally participating in the more difficult tasks. Work assignments are received in the form of instructions, sometimes accompanied by drawings.

• Plans, assigns, schedules, and supervises the work of skilled and trades helper subordinates on machine work, welding, cutting, and installation projects.

• Lays out and supervises the cutting and fitting of material in preparation for welding.

• Maintains and makes repairs to welding equipment.

• Prepares cost estimates of labor and material; orders supplies, material, and equipment.

• Prepares routine work and time reports and maintains standard records.

• Establishes safety and work performance standards.

• Performs related work as required.

• Sets production standards and measures work performances for jobs related to the production processes of the company.

• Maintain Weld Shop in organized working standards in line with Company vision.

• Hiring personnel, disciplining personnel, terminating personnel.

Experience, Skills and Abilities

• Thorough knowledge of the standard tools, equipment, materials, methods, and practices of the trades commensurate to assigned duties.

• Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the welding, steam fitting, and insulation trades.

• Considerable knowledge of the properties of ferrous and non-ferrous metals encountered in welding tasks.

• Ability to supervise the work of subordinate journeymen and helpers.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with personnel of other departments.

• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and to work from sketches, diagrams, blue prints, and broken parts.

• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing.

• Skill in the use and care of tools and equipment used on work assignments.

Job Requirements

  • Using welding techniques and appropriate welding equipment
  • Coordinate all in-service welding
  • Conduct interviews for welding staff
  • Participating in the welding operations
  • Ensure all necessary welding equipment
  • Use grinder to smooth welding
  • Improve welding procedures and cut costs
  • Fabricate components by analyzing requirements and welding parts (MIG welding)
  • Verifying welding results by inspecting and testing
  • Provide information on welding operator's performance
  • Pass the company certification for all welding applications
  • Supervise, develop and assess the welding supervisors
  • Oversee welding supply inventory and monitor weld quality
  • Coordinate activities of production welding workers in safe and efficent manner
  • Monitor the welding process be carried
  • Set up, operate and adjust manual and/or automatic machines to perform fabrication operations such as arc welding, automatic welding, electron beam welding, hand brazing
  • Standardize the training and qualification of welding department personnel
  • Keep welding shop supplies in inventory and in order
  • Displayed that the welding operators are aware of the requirements
  • Validate and draft welding documentation in support of shop operations
